1. Exercise Positive Encouragement

It is not difficult to find that parents tend to focus their energy on scolding their children on the wrongs committed but not on praising on the rights done. What parents do not realise is that the child’s good behaviors are not being enforced!

In order for your child to learn the rights and the wrongs, it is vital that you acknowledge your children’s good behaviors while you catch and correct their bad ones. This way, it will also put you in the positive light that you not only want to correct them when they misbehave but you will also appreciate it when they are behaving well.

As the mother of a pair of twin toddlers, I try to be more observant when I am with them. When I catch my boy pushing or hitting his twin sister, I will not hesitate to stop him immediately and correct his misbehavior. However, I also ensure that I shower him with praises and comment on his good behaviors too when I catch sight of him doing things like sharing his food or toys with his sister. Through positive encouragement, my children learns to correct the bad behaviors and do more of what is right instead.

2. Schedule Personal Time For Each Of Your Kid

In order to be successful in child parenting, a vital thing you must do first of all is to build strong bonds with your children by allocating personal time for each of them. You can set aside 30 minutes each day or at least 2 hours each week for a personal time. This will give you some time to have a private and personal chat about their day’s events but you have to do your part in ensuring that there is no interruption of any form allowed.

For families with very young children, personal time for them can actually be family time whereby you get to sing, play and chat together with your kids. Alternatively, you can choose to spend the time by reading a story to them before bedtime. You must always remember to show your children that you love them by giving them lots of hugs and kisses.

3. Spare The Rod And Nurture The Child

Using the corporal punishment on the child to force him or her to obey is a thing of the past. In studies down, it has been found that these children who had lived in very harsh environment tend to be more aggressive and uncontrollable when they grow up to become adults. It is a more effective child parenting model to teach your children with love and reasoning rather than through physical punishment.
